Travel Insurance Concerns 3

Customers should always double check the inclusions in their policies. Read the fine print. Clients must check if their policy will pay for their additional transportation and accomodation expenditures. Any policy with connecting flights coverage gives a minimum of 2 hours connection time from one flight to the next. Unforeseen events like illness of the insured or a close relative or a travel companion, jury service, redundancy or theft at home may call for a cancellation of the holiday. Clients are advised to buy their travel insurance plans after booking their vacation so that Cancellation Cover can take effect immediately. However, customers with an Annual Multi Trip policy need not worry in this regard. Customers, whose personal baggage were lost or damaged after a flight, must accomplish a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) before leaving the airport so they can claim. In case their personal possessions are stolen during their stay at the resort or hotel, it is a must for them to get a police report within 24 hours, as this is a prerequisite in most ravel insurance plans.

Traveling with Kids? Get Insured!

Traveling with kids is never an easy thing. There are so many safety factors you have to consider. Traveling with young kids is even worse. They can get sick at the drop of a hat, and may ruin all your carefully prepared vacation plans. That’s why it’s always a good idea to get travel insurance when you’re traveling with children. Here are some types of insurance you might want to get:
• Trip Cancellation – if your kid gets sick the day before your flight, or inclement weather makes you uneasy about going on that vacation, and you decide to cancel your vacation, part or all of it may be non-refundable. Trip Cancellation Insurance will reimburse you for the non-refundable portions of your trip.
• Trip Interruption - in case your trip is cut short because of accident or serious illness, from any of the travelers or from family you’ve left behind at home. This policy protects you by reimbursing any additional cost to change your trip, or for any non-refundable portion you haven’t used.

The Need for Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is designed to cover you when things go wrong and problems arise during your travels. It is a way of offering yourself peace of mind and also minimizing the considerable financial risks of travelling. Travel insurance is insurance that is intended to cover your medical expenses, financial losses (such as money invested in non-refundable pre-payments), and other losses incurred while travelling, either within your own country, or in other countries.

Travel insurance is the ultimate tool to prepare for the unexpected on a trip abroad but bear in mind that most sections of your policy have limits on the amount the insurer will pay under that section.

There’s no legal requirement for you to have insurance when you travel abroad but if you find yourself in a situation like that you’ll bless the day you took a policy out because travelling with no insurance puts you at serious risk which you might not be able to handle. The good news is, though, that travel insurance is getting cheaper. Perhaps travel insurance is indeed a wise decision. Travel Insurance is just as essential as your sunglasses, toiletries and camera when you’re heading off on holiday.

About Travel Insurance and Terrorism

12.jpg

I was reading this post on Travel Insurance When I found this very interesting post on Does Your Travel Insurance Policy Cover Terrorism

It says there on the post that if you should ever plan on going on a trip abroad you should definitely consider getting a travel insurance. Well, especially in countries where terrorism is rampant or where terrorism is reportedly high. It’s the best time to check if your travel insurance policy is covering terrorism.

One has to be sensible about the whole issue. If your government advises against travel to a particular area or country there may not be any cover – but you need to ask yourself who would want to go under those circumstances anyway? There are a number of other conditions to check up on too. That’s why it’s important to read your policy. Before planning a holiday in any country that might be considered unsafe for any reason, we recommend that you check the Foreign Affairs office website first.  If travel to a country against your government’s advice and despite listed warnings you may find your travel insurance will not compensate you if you encounter a problem because you will have put yourself at ‘unnecessary risk’.  TFG Global offers a plan that will still cover you there. But it is wise to call your travel insurance company before setting off to ask whether you will be covered for your destination.  Most travel insurance policies have exclusions for events like terrorist acts, revolution, war, riot and civil unrest.  If you sustained injuries and lost your belongings in such a situation you may not be covered, although that is not always the case. But if your injury or loss was sustained in an unrelated event you could still be covered. Some trip cancellation and interruption policies will cover the cost of your trip if you have to cancel because of a terrorist event or warning, but not if there was a warning for that country before you purchased your trip cancellation plan. If you are purchasing travel insurance it is important to make sure the policy includes good medical coverage with repatriation coverage and check those policy contract details, especially as it relates to terrorism.

Go, Girl! (How Women Travel)

6.jpg

Indeed, there is a great difference in how men and women travel. For men, women are fussy and just plain high-maintenance. However, there is more to just being very particular and overly-sensible.
PACKING - Deal with it: women pack more than men. For every one piece of underwear that men need, women need two. Also, unlike the men who can rely on a single bar of soap as shampoo, body wash, shaving cream, and deodorant, women bring pretty much everything they use at home, with a few extras.
PLANNING - Women pay attention to even the littlest details: transportation schedules, reservation systems, facilities and the like. Men, on the other hand, are just concerned if there is a bed to sleep on (maybe not even). While men are more skilled with how to go where, what to do there, which bar has the cheapest beer, women are more concerned with what food is being served, if the toilets are working, and if there is a nearby shopping area.
ACTIVITIES - Men are happy just to find a bar that serves good food and cheap beer. Women, however, are more intricate with travelling activities. Aside from shopping, women are very much interested with sight-seeing and visiting historical places. Women are also more interested in experiencing foreign culture while men are happy to just go through it all.

Identity Theft Coverage

43.jpg

If your wallet or belongings were stolen during your trip, I’m hoping that yo were able to get an Identity Theft coverage in your travel insurance plan. A lot of bad things can happen: they can use your credit card to buy items, they can sell your identification cards to anyone they want. They can use the information in your wallet to get more money.

This coverage will allow the victim to report the identity theft to the authorities, wherein they will guide you on what to do next. This also covers any damage done to your credit report.

The coverage can last until six months after the trip and you’ll be reimbursed depending on the travel insurance policy.

Travel Insurance for Pets

48.jpg

Traveling with a pet can make the journey fun (except if it’s one of those”exotic pets”). However, how can you be sure that they’ll remain healthy before, during, and after your travels? Why not get them a Travel Pet Insurance?

Yes, they also provide insurance to your beloved pet as well. Although you will need to time when you’ll be processing their documents as their insurance premiums are calculated on the animal type and age. You can also implement a one-off or annual travel policy.

Included in the pet travel insurance are the following:

  • x-rays
  • injections
  • lab tests
  • prescriptions
  • costs while they stay at the vet and recuperate

    Single Trip Travel Insurance

    47.jpg

In opposite of the annual travel insurance, we have the single trip travel insurance. This is advisable for people who will be traveling out of the country once in a year. There are three areas that maybe covered by this type of insurance: Europe, Worldwide, and Worldwide with exclusions. The exclusions are places where the claims would be too expensive.

A lot of travel insurance such as this normally don’t include baggage cover to ensure a discount. The reason for this is that since you’ll be out of the country for a very short time, then you wouldn’t be carrying too much baggage.

    Trip Cancellation Insurance

    42.jpg

There will be times that you need to cancel traveling: sudden illness, death, house burnt down, etc. But what about the money you’ve already deposited? There are some major trips and charters that require one to give more than 50% downpayment, sometimes the full payment before giving you the ticket. This is where your Trip Cancellation travel insurance comes in.

It’s a way to reimburse for any financial loss a traveler incurs when the travel don’t push through. It covers all the situation above, except if you suddenly change your mind—that one’s not covered because that was a decision based on a whim.

Get one after you buy that ticket.
