Avoid Road Danger
Always wear your seatbelts. In rainy weather, slow down and allow for extra braking room and use your low beam headlights. In traffic, avoid confrontation.
When parking, check if the car doors are locked. Park in well-lit lots or as close to the main entrance as possible. See if there are people hanging about. Make sure that it is safe before going out.
When you walk out, project a confident demeanor to discourage criminals. Don’t make yourself a target, flashing expensive jewelry, lots of cash or even tourist brochures and maps left in the seats can label you as a potential victim.
Stick to the major roads, since you don’t know the side streets you might just pick the one all the locals avoid. You’ll also find more people and better lighting on the major roads.
